| The Michigan Mine Safety & Health Training Program Now offers a new patented back-injury prevention training
developed by Dr. Michael Schaefer. Mines that follow up and continue to refresh employees with the techniques taught are expected to reduce back-injury related costs by more than half.
This unique approach to lifting is a complete departure from the traditional
"place-your-feet-shoulder-distance-apart, keep-your-back-straight, lift-with-your-legs" type
of training. |
Trainees take from the PowerLift (tm) training workshops:
1. An understanding of the harm done by back lifting
2. Ability to use the two fundamental principles of correct manual lifting by applying five basic
lifts in the workplace and at home.
3. Convincing Experience that leg-lifting is easier than back-lifting when the techniques
presented are applied.
4. Other knowledge including:
a. The harm done by bend-twist lifting, even for lightweight objects.
b. Stretching exercises used to minimize age-related loss of flexibility and avoid injury. |
Over 500 companies and health-care facilities are using the PowerLift (tm)
training system including such well-known names as 3M, Northwest Airlines, the U.S. Postal Service, and Duininck Brothers. |
